“..And he shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace…” – Isaiah 9:6
On the night when Jesus was born there was great joy, singing and praise both on earth and in heaven.
The angels sang and praised God saying – “Glory to God in the highest, and on the earth peace, good will toward men.”
The birth of Jesus was good news of great joy, the news Israel had been waiting for concerning the birth of Christ, God’s anointed one - the Messiah.
This joy is still celebrated today. Usually, on Christmas day, the day when Jesus’ birth is honoured.
Gifts are exchanged, stories are told about the wise men who brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Jesus’ birth - glorious and worthy of celebration, for it was on this day that the world received the most precious gift in the entire universe – the son of God.
Jesus is the gift of God to us. Our saviour and redeemer. Our light, our joy.
Jesus the gift of light
When Jesus is born, light comes into the world.
Concerning the prophecy of Jesus Isaiah says, a people walking in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. (Isaiah 9:2).
Jesus is the true light that gives light to everyone (John 1:9). His light guides our feet into the way of peace. We celebrate and thank God for with Jesus we no longer have to stumble in darkness - Jesus shows us the way. He is our way. Jesus is our precious gift from God.
Jesus the gift of life
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” – John 1:4
In John 10:10, Jesus says that he has come so that we may have life and have it in abundance.
All who come to Jesus receive life. In Jesus we are taken out of the kingdom of death and darkness into the Kingdom of light, the Kingdom of the Son of God – Jesus (Ephesians 2:1).
Jesus has won the victory over death. He has given us new life – everlasting life.
This is a reason to rejoice. We have been made alive again by Jesus our resurrection and our life.
Jesus our gift of peace
Through Jesus’ death on the cross we have been reconciled to God.
Jesus bore our sins on the cross, he took the punishment on our behalf and gave us his righteousness. Because of this we stand in a place of favour whereby we have peace with God. (Romans 5:1, 2 Corinthians 5:21).
Not only that but Jesus himself is our peace.
He gives us a peace not like the world can give us, but a type of peace that passes understanding.
We rejoice because as the world may seem dark at times, we stand in the light of Jesus and walk in his peace which keeps our hearts full of joy.
Jesus our gift of hope
Jesus has come into the world, he died for our sins, on the third day he rose again, now he is seated at the right hand of the Father God.
Our blessed hope and assurance is that we have a high priest, our Messiah seated in heaven with the Father interceding for us, loving us, praying for us – the anchor of our hope.
We can confidently wake up daily to praise God for our redeemer is alive, he lives.
And we can with great joy look forward to his return as the blessed hope of our salvation.
If you have not received the gift of God – Jesus, pray to the Father in heaven who freely gives salvation to us all and ask Him for this precious gift. If you have received Jesus – the gift of God, let this be the season where you share the gift with friends, family and all those around you.
Tell the world about Jesus.
A joyous Christmas!

We teach our children the deep truths of the word even though they may appear too young to follow along, we believe this is important and they will grow into it easier as the Lord teaches them.
